Before: Unusable, dangerous mess

The Situation

Grass reinforcement was desperately needed to prevent bogging and to provide all year round car parking. With ever increasing number of events, keeping green space and accommodating the volume of vehicles was becoming a headache.

The Solution

Grass reinforcement with no base course The contractors simply levelled off the existing surface and contoured to shape using a thin layer of sandy topsoil. SurePave™ was then laid directly onto this and filled with the same mix of soil then sown. No metal base was required. Because of the large panel size and unique, strong interlocking feature of SurePave, it prevents pot holes forming while protecting the crown of the grass.
Natural grass growing environment Because the panels were able to be laid on topsoil it gives a near natural growing environment for the grass. This picture was taken after the first or second mow.
Consistent ground surface – One year later After 12 months of all year round use this is what the area looked like.
After 18 months of intense traffic The area reinforced with SurePave has been subjected to high volumes of traffic during events and, although the grass wears, it soon bounces back ready for the next onslaught. QE 2 staff says that the maintenance required to keep the areas looking good is absolutely minimal.
